It seems really hard to manage a trip to Barcelona on a tight budget since there is just so much to do – and especially so much amazing food to try. But don’t worry – there are also many great, affordable options to choose from. Keep reading for my favorite cheap eats in Barcelona!
Traveling on a budget can be quite difficult in Barcelona as accommodation is already pretty pricey, especially if you want to visit the city in the summer or around important holidays. And of course, food is always an important cost factor to keep in mind while traveling. Even though most restaurants in the city center of Barcelona are a bit pricey, you can still find cheap eats in Barcelona if you know where to go.
And don’t worry, an affordable lunch or dinner option does not necessarily have to mean fast food. Even though takeout restaurants usually offer more inexpensive options, there also some sit down restaurants I’d like to share with you.
These cheap eats in Barcelona are especially great for a quick and inexpensive lunch on the go:
Dionsisos is a Greek take-out restaurant serving delicious pitas (including vegetarian and vegan options), sides and combined menu options. The prices are really fair and the staff super friendly. There are two different locations in the city center: one close to the Cathedral and another one close to the Parc de la Ciutadella. Definitely one of my favorites!
Maoz is an international chain so you might have already heard of it even if you have never been to Barcelona. The serve different falafel dishes with toppings that you can choose freely.
Pugliamia & Focacceria Toscana
These two are my favorites for delicious focaccerias. If you’ve never tried Focacceria before, you need to think of something like a pizza but with thicker and softer a bread bottom. You can choose from many different toppings and Pugliamia has different vegan options as well. I personally like it a bit better and it’s in the beautiful area El Born, which you should definitely visit during your stay in Barcelona.
Les Dues Sicilies & Pizza Micaela
Two great options for a slice of pizza on the go! With several locations in the old center, you should definitely find one close to you. Both have lots of different options and the slices are quite big for a fair price.
The so called “Muns” are empanadas with different fillings. Here is a picture so you know what I’m talking about:
Your empanadas will be cooked freshly and you can eat it hot. It’s really delicious and perfect on to go! And they also have one vegan option – yay!
Wok to Walk
Again, some of you might already know this one as it is an international chain. I still really like it because you just know what you’re getting. The prices are fair, portions big and the food really yummy. You can choose all the ingredients from the base to all the toppings and sauce yourself!
If you’d rather sit down and take a break for your lunch or dinner, have a look at these cheap eats in Barcelona:
The best pizzas in Barcelona! (And probably also the largest ones…)
Before Pizza Circus only did take away in a small shop so there was always a long wait. But recently, they opened another location so you can now calmly enjoy your amazing pizza.
Rosa Negra is a Mexican restaurant on Via Laietana making everything you need: tacos, burritos, fajitas and 4€ mojitos. You should definitely make a reservation beforehand as it gets quite busy, especially on weekends.
Tapa de China
If you are in the mood for Chinese, Tapa de China is the place to go! The restaurant itself doesn’t look very special but the food definitely is. A Taiwanese friend of mine recommended it so you can be sure you’ll get authentic Chinese dishes at a great price. The owners are also super friendly!
Compared to other European cities, Barcelona doesn’t have a lot of vegetarian restaurants yet. Hummus Barcelona is one of the ones I have tried so far and my friends and I really loved it! It’s a super cozy restaurant and the staff is really friendly and helps with any questions. You should definitely give it a try!
For burgers in Barcelona always choose Bacoa! There are various locations in the center but the one at the Ramblas is always super busy so you should choose a different one. Bacoa has one vegetarian and one vegan option. You also need to try the patatas bravas!
Tucco Real Food
This great restaurant is hidden in a little alley in the Gothic quarter. It looks super small from the outside but it is actually very spacious and even has a bar! On the menu, you’ll find different pasta and lasagna options. The pasta is homemade and really tasty! You will get a lot of food for a really fair price.
Have you tried any of these restaurants? Or do you have any great options for cheap eats in Barcelona to add to the list? Let me know in the comments!
